Perfect Flame grill, doesn't take charcoal, should I use ceramic?

 I have a perfect gas grill customary marks the flame that I bought from Lowes. He said do not use charcoal, do I use ceramic briquettes, or nothing at all?
The grid has "shields ardor" so I think it means it does not take gender or ceramic briquettes.
