Potato sidedish form Holland?

 Me and some friends recently went to Eindhoven for a weekend and went to a restaurant called "Manhattan steakhouse, where they made a side dish with barbecue and confused because of our ignorance of all that any of us are strangers to ask what it was.

 im from the Netherlands, and to be authentic, it doesn't sound Dutch. From your description, it could be something of moussaka, potatoes dauphinous. there are no layers Dutch dishes innate good. we boil it or crush the potatoes in dishes capita.
