Salem City Café P Mike Foglietta said he and his wife Debra have owned the great tavern for just over three years.

“We tried to create an urban fashionable atmosphere, like something you would find in the city, but we were careful to keep the historic façade because this is an important district,” Foglietta said. “It’s been called the ‘cheers‚’ smidgin of Salem County, where you can hang out and feel comfortable.

Executive Chef Mike Bomba sat down with us recently to talk about his job, his background and the food he prepares at Salem City Café.

Q: Who are you?

A: I was born in Penns Grove, raised in Carneys Projection and currently live in Pennsville. My family has been in the community for decades. My mammoth-grandmother had a spaghetti house in Penns Grove.
